Southern Thailand Expedition Reefs & Rainforests An exploration of the South of Thailand: high mountains, steamy jungles, tropical islands, coral reefs, exotic temples and spicy curries - discover the fantastic sites, spectacular scenery and friendly people on this two week journey through these rarely visited parts of the Thai peninsular. Tour Highlights: Kaeng Krachan National park, Khao Sok National Park, Rafting, Snorkling on Coral Reefs, Camping in the Jungle, Kayaking, Thai Food, Village Homestay, Jungle Trekking, Deserted Beaches, Waterfalls, Elephant Riding , Palaces and Temples. Day 1: Departure from your Point of Origin Day 2: Morning arrival in Bangkok meet your tour-leader and transfer to a downtown hotel in the City's Banglamphu district. Afternoon tour of some of the City sites including the Grand Palace and spectacular Wat Phra Keow - Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Day 3: Departure for the historic town of Phetchaburi at the northern limit of the Peninsula. Visit the fascinating Khao Wang Palace and Park with its colony of monkeys before continuing to Kaeng Krachan National Park for our night's accommodation as guests of lakeside villagers. Days 4 & 5: Two-day trek through the pristine rainforest and stunning scenery of Thailand's largest National Park. Discover the amazing flora and fauna, by day and by night, and camp overnight in the forest. (The exact itinerary to be decided prior to trekking after consultations with the local guides.) Return to Pet'buri in the evening of day 5. Day 6: Continue south to Chumporn for two night's accommodation at a small, lakeside, and family run resort hidden deep in the province's mountainous interior. Day 7: Day exploring the area: hiking in the forest, bathing in waterfalls and a rafting trip down the scenic Pha To River. Day 8: On to Khao Sok in Surat Thani Province - acknowledged as one of Thailand's most spectacular National Parks with its dramatic limestone karst scenery, lakes, waterfalls and lush jungle. Day 9 & 10: Two day exploration of the park including kayaking on the lake, elephant riding and a jungle hike, with plenty of time to relax, splash around in the streams and waterfalls or just kick back in your chalet and admire the fabulous tropical flora and fauna. Day 11: Off to the Andaman Sea Coast for a short transfer by boat to Pha Nga's Prathong Island. The beaches, forest and mangroves of this secluded, unspoiled island, as well as its nearby coral reefs are home to plentiful wildlife. Stay in a beachside resort in comfortable wooden chalets built in traditional 'sea-gypsy' style - the regions original inhabitants. Day 12: Half-day boat tours - visit some of the surrounding islands and swim and snorkel on the coral reefs. An optional day tour to the stunning Surin Islands National Marine Park is available, weather permitting. Day 13: Relax on the beach or explore the island. Plenty of hiking trails criss-cross Koh Prathong whose wildlife includes deer, monkeys and hornbills amongst numerous other species.
Day 14: Morning at leisure - continue
exploring or top-up your suntan - and an afternoon transfer to nearby Ranong
Town for a return flight to your Point of Origin via Bangkok. |
