Southern and Northern Baliem Valley Trekking

DAY 01 : Jayapura-Arrival
(D)
Arrive at Sentani airport of Jayapura at afternoon (16.30),
meeting service then short transfer to Sentani Indah Hotel for
accommodation. Dinner at a local restaurant.
DAY 02 : Jayapura/ Sogokmo/ Kurima/ Kilise (B,L,D)
After breakfast at your hotel, drive 25 minutes to Aikima village in North
of Baliem valley then start your trek with your guide, porters and cook.
From here trek 2,5-3 hours to Suroba village thru small rivers and Dani
gardens. On the way to Suroba, you will meet some Dani people with nice
greetings you and good view. Arrive at Suroba in afternoon and have a time
to explore the village and surrounding. Dinner and overnight at local guest
house of Suroba; the starting point of the trekking. Heading to Kurima,
sub-district of the tribe on level terrain then continue climbing the
Hesegem hill on the direction of Kilise, the destination village. Along the
trails, you will meet local people in their activities and yet the scenery
is very beautiful around. Lunch served enroute. In the afternoon you may
explore the traditional villages and learn about the people way of life.
Dinner and stay at local guest house of Kilise. (Trek approximately 4
hours).
DAY 03: Kilise/ Ibiroma / Tangma (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we proceed to descend the steep hill up to Wamarek village
for 2 hoursvia Ibiroma village. At Wamarek, join with local people to see
their activities. Lunch will have at Wamarek. After lunch, trek down to
Tangma village for 2 hours. Afternoon explore the village and surrounding.
Dinner and overnight at Priest’s house or local church.
DAY 04: Tangma/ Kurima/ Wamena / Jiwika (B,L,D)
Today we trek–up for 2 hours and going down till Kurima. In Kurima you may
get the fresh fruit. From here you will view enjoy the spectacular a beauty
of Baliem george and Dani gardens. After take a break at Kurima continue to
Sogokmo where the car waiting us and drop to Jiwika the North of Baliem
valley. Afternoon explore the village of Jiwika. Dinner and overnight at a
local house.
DAY 05: Jiwika - (Pig feast & dance) /
Wamena (B, L, D)
Breakfast at your local house, then climb-up to salt mine to see the local
people how to make salt traditionally. From the salt pool walk down to
Sumpaima village to see an old mummy. Lunch will serve by your cook. After
lunch walk 10 minutes to the next village to see and enjoy a local
performance such as mocked war and traditional Earth oven cooking. Today you
can be interacted with the local Dani people and learn about their way of
life. Afternoon back to Wamena. Dinner and overnight at Baliem Pilamo Hotel.
DAY 06: Wamena/Jayapura (B, L,D)
After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport of Wamena and depart to
Jayapura. Upon arrive at Sentani Airport, drive and touring the area of
Jayapura; visit : Mc Arthur monument at Ifar Gunung, Sentani lake and its
small island, lunch served at a restaurant by the side of the lake.
Afternoon continue to visit local market and museum or swimming on the
beach. Late afternoon back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay. (B, L,
D)
DAY 07: Jayapura/ Departure (B)
Breakfast at hotel and proceed to airport for your flight to Sorong.
