Tree House Adventure
(Koroway Tribe)
8 Days/ 7 nights

Day 01: Wamena Excursion
Upon arrival at Sentani Airport then take Merpati 2nd flight to Wamena at noon. After check in at hotel and then have lunch at local restaurant in Wamena. You may visit villages around Wamena including traditional market and back to hotel for relaxing before going for dinner. This is only the first Day to give you idea the Baliem Valley and its people look like. Overnight at a hotel in Wamena (L, D)

Day 02: Wamena / Yaniruma / Tree House
After breakfast at the hotel fly with missionary charter plane to Yaniruma for about 1 hour. Yaniruma is a home to Koroway tribe, the people who live in the tree houses. This is the most remote tribe has been found in Irian Jaya so far. They live deep in the forest. They live in very traditional way, some of them still holding the old beliefs and used to practice cannibalism until Missionary arrived and build new settlements to get the Koroway and Kombay (the neighbor tribe) more developed. The missionary arrives in 70’s brought Christian religion to the Koroway. Yaniruma was opened to tourist in early 70’s but until toDay the place is still the most remote tribe and desired by  most od adventurous tourists all at once anthropology expeditions. It’s unique culture and environment make adventures interested to come.
After get things organized in Yaniruma altogether with the local porters have the canoe ride across the Dairam River Then you are proceed to go inside the forest searching for the tree house community exist. Lunch served en route. Overnight in tent or tree house. Dinner prepare by the cook. Overnight at the Tree house compound. (Walk approx. 4 – 4.5hours, B, L, and D)

Day 03: Jungle Trek
After breakfast move to another tree house community. The Koroway is semi nomadic people, there for the trip is more like searching where they live. The terrain will always be wet and muddy; sometimes you have to cross one single log bridge to cross. The temperature is hot and humid. There are mosquitoes in the area. Make sure you have malaria medicines and mosquito repellent. Lunch served en route. Overnight in tent or tree house. Dinner prepared by the cook. O/N: Tree house compound (Walk approx. 5 – 6 hours, B, L, D)

Day 04: Remaining day with the clan
Spend the Day with the locals to learn the way of life survive in the forest. After breakfast you may go with them hunting, fishing or even join them gathering their main food, sago flour. You will learn how they do sago processing. Lunch served by the cook. Overnight at a tree house/tent. Dinner prepare by the cook. Overnight- Tree house compound (B, L, D)

Day 05: Jungle Trek/Yaniruma
After breakfast trek back to Yaniruma. The paddling canoes waiting for you ready to take you back to the little civilization. Lunch served en route. Overnight at a missionary guest house. Dinner prepared by the cook. O/N at Missionary’s guest house at Yaniruma (Walk approx. 5 – 5.5 hours, B, L, D)

Day 06: Yaniruma/Wamena
The missionary plane picks you up and flies you back to Wamena after your breakfast. You could see the scenery from the plane is nothing else, but nature’s beauty. Great river and thick jungle are all you see from above. Lunch and dinner at a restaurant in town. Overnight at hotel in Wamena. (B, L, D)

Day 07: Wamena/Jayapura
After breakfast leave for Wamena airport to get Merpati 1st flight to Jayapura. The flight takes about 50 minutes and at Sentani Airport you will be picked up and check in at Sentani Indah Hotel. You may have full Day sightseeing tour including Mac Arthur 2nd World War Monument, Sentani Lake and its small islands, museum and Hamadi Market. Lunch served at restaurant bay the lake. Back to the hotel late in the afternoon. Dinner at hotel. O/N Sentani Indah Hotel (B, L, D)

Day 08: Jayapure/Departure
Leave the hotel after breakfast for Sentani Airport. Depart to your next destination. End of service.
