Laos - a fascinating and rarely visited country; Beginning in Thailand's infamous Golden Triangle we'll travel down the Mekong River, through Laos' unspoiled mountains and jungles to the ancient capital, now World Heritage Site, Luang Prabang. After exploring the City's beautiful temples and colonial architecture, we'll head over the dramatic central highlands of Laos to the present capital of Vientiane.

Tour Highlights: Chiang Mai, Mekong River Trip; Hilltribe Villages, Vientiane, Golden Triangle Tour, Jungle Trekking, UNESCO’s Luang Prabang and Lao Food.

Day 1: Departure from your Point of Origin.

Day 2: Chiang Mai
The cultural and historical capital of Northern Thailand. Afternoon free to relax or explore this charming city and an evening tour of the famous night market.

Day 3:  Chiang Khong
Head north to the small town of Chiang Khong on the banks of the Mekong – accommodation in a family-run guesthouse overlooking the river.

Day 4: Golden Triangle
Day tour of part of the infamous Golden Triangle region, following the Mekong north through the historic, ruined city of Chiang Saen to the fascintaing town of Sob Ruk at the junction of Burma, Laos and Thailand.

Day 5: Huay Xai
Cross the Mekong River to Huay-Xai – our entry point for the Lao People's Democratic Republic. Afternoon 4WD trip to explore the surrounding area and visit a nearby 'hill-tribe' village.

Day 6: Luang Prabang
Journey down the Mekong, one of the worlds last remaining untamed rivers, winding through mountains and forests to the ancient Lao capital of Luang Prabang.

Days 7 & 8: Luang Prabang
Nestled in the mountains, long isolated from the outside world, we'll discover World Heritage Site, Luang Prabang's fabulous temples, taste Lao delicacies (and famous Lao beer) in riverside cafes and stay in a converted French colonial villa.

Day 9: Luang Prabang/Kuang Si
One day trek through the surrounding hills to visit the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfalls.

Day 10: Hmong Village/Luang Prabang
Visit Long Lao, a nearby Hmong village, to discover the traditional life of the hill-tribe peoples. Campfire and barbeque before returning to Luang Prabang.

Day 11: Luang Prabang/Vientiane
Morning flight to the capital, Vientiane, with the afternoon to relax or visit the city's famous markets.

Day 12: Vientiane
Day tour of some of the fascinating sites of Vientiane; Si Saket temple, That Luang pagoda and the unusual 'Buddha Park”.

Day 13: Departure for Bangkok/Onward Flight
Departure for your onward flight via Bangkok.
